Dressing well is more important then most people think. Think about it. When you interact with people, whether at work or socially or even privately, people who are well dressed get your attention more. They do make a better impression and it always works in their favour when they have made the effort to look good.
There are so many reasons why putting in the effort in your outfits and your overall image have an advantage over someone who doesn’t.

First of all, it gives you confidence. When you look at yourself in the mirror and think you look awesome, that’s going to stick with you all day. Confidence gives you the motivation to go on with your day no matter what it brings. Confident people have more success, feel better about themselves and that has a ripple effect on all areas of your life.

Then there is the impression that you make. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. People make snap judgements based on first glance, it is in our system and everybody does it, consciously and subconsciously. So when you do take your appearance more seriously, people notice. For all the right reasons. Doors will open. A great personality means people will like you, but combined with great style, it means they won’t forget you.

Clothes are motivational. Dressing well is the quickest dose of motivation that you can get. Feeling low? Try putting on your best clothes, together with proper grooming and you’ll get yourself out of the dumps. When you look good, you feel good and you do good. Clothes really have that power!

It shows you have self care. No, you’re not selfish, you are looking after yourself in the best possible way and people like that. They will respect you for it. How can they respect someone who doesn’t respect themselves? By really looking into what suits you, what is appropriate for the occasion and what makes you happy when you wear it, you are looking after yourself and inspire others to do so as well.

It helps you to be yourself. Now that can only be a good thing. When you wear something that is made for someone else you are never going to feel good and never are yourself.  Being authentic will get you much further in life then pretending to be someone else.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog and that it has inspired you to take positive action to dress well and feel good. It really makes a difference in your life.

Keep stylish, Mieke xx
